Carna - against thrips

Carna contains larvae of the green lacewing, a graceful creature that occurs in Dutch nature. The hungry larvae immediately look for thrips larvae and adult thrips and eat them. Carna lacewings are true omnivores and, in addition to thrips, also enjoy a snack on aphids, whiteflies and spider mites.

The larvae are supplied in a paper bag with buckwheat hulls, together with handy release boxes to distribute the larvae over the plant. Immediately after receipt you can spread the contents in the expansion boxes and hang them on the garden or house plants. An easy and natural way to combat thrips, without harming plants, bees, birds and mammals!

1. Dosage
1 pack is enough for:
• 10 m² for a vegetable garden or low plants up to 60 cm
• 5 m² for tall plants up to 100 cm
• 10 houseplants

The above dosages are an indication. Overdose is not possible.

2. When to bet
Carna can be used as soon as thrips larvae or adult thrips are observed. The sooner you use Carna, the more effective the control will be. Place between 15 and 30 °C. Carna is most effective between 20 and 30 °C.

3. Shelf life
It is advisable to use Carna as soon as possible after receipt. If you want to store the bag after receiving it, you can do so for a maximum of 1 day in a dark and ventilated place at 12-14 °C. Do not store in the refrigerator.

4. Location
Carna can be used in the vegetable garden, in the hobby greenhouse, on the balcony or in house plants.

5. Repeat treatment
A one-time application does not guarantee that thrips will be gone forever. Repeat treatments are therefore recommended. In case of a serious infestation (several thrips per leaf), we recommend repeat treatment after 3 weeks.

For optimal results, it is important to spread Carna well over the plants. The lacewing larvae are active at night and therefore difficult to observe during the day. During the day the larvae hide under leaves or the edges of the pot.

A lacewing larva can eat several thrips larvae or adults per day. 75% of all prey is eaten when the larva is older, after about 3 weeks. Carna will eat more and develop faster at warmer temperatures above 21°C.

Lacewing larvae prefer aphids, but also like to eat thrips, whiteflies and spider mites. Real gluttons!

Carna is a native species and occurs naturally in the Netherlands. Carna is a 100% natural product. The lacewings are not harmful to people, pets, bees or birds and do not damage the plant. After the pest has been cleared, Carna will disappear from the plants due to lack of food.
